    My research focuses on the fundamental mechanisms that govern adult muscle stem cells (MuSCs), the primary drivers of skeletal muscle regeneration. We specifically investigate the complex phenomenon of non-genetic heterogeneity\u2014the critical cell-to-cell variability in surface protein expression that allows MuSCs to rapidly adapt to changes in their microenvironment. Our studies focus on how dynamic trafficking of membrane proteins, such as Cripto or CXCR2, generate this variability and define MuSC fate and determination. We are currently analyzing how these receptor-mediated dynamics influence both the regenerative capacity of the cells and their crucial interaction with the surrounding inflammatory microenvironment. This work aims to identify novel molecular targets and cellular mechanisms, improving knowledge in muscular regeneration and diseases.<\/p>
