The focus of my research is the dynamic interplay between cancer cells and tumor microenviroment in glioblastoma (GBM). During my research activity, I generated cyclic peptides derived from human urokinase, endowed with anti-migratory and anti-invasive properties. These molecules inhibit tumor dissemination in mice, myofibroblast activity supporting breast cancer cell invasion, as well as GBM vascular mimicry and migration. Current testing of newly designed peptides in the GBM system is ongoing, using 3D culture platforms, innovative matrices and organ-on-chip devices.
